The Cuban Club is located right on Duval Street, just steps from Key West's best historical sites, galleries, attractions, dining and shopping. The Cuban Club is a fully restored historical landmark. Cuban cigar makers and their families founded the building in 1900 as their home away from home. They used it as a place to meet and play games, bringing with them their music, dance and culture. The Cuban Club, built with 50 cents or a dollar from each man's paycheck as dues, became the center of social and community life and offered a place for many needs.

The building was restored by Fred Salinero, who was born next door and is from one of Key West's oldest Spanish Cuban families. His restoration offers such amenities as cathedral ceilings with fans, fully equipped kitchens with tiles counter tops and floors, tiled baths, and airy, spacious rooms for up to six people ranging from 900 to 1900 square feet. Many rooms have French doors opening to plush wraparound balconies and all have microwave ovens, central air, dinnerware, linens and flatware and more.

Rates: $130-600 depending on room type and season.

Assets: Cuban Club Suites, Casa DeLucas and Douglas House, once under separate ownership, are now owned by Robert Marrero, who has combined them into a single entity with shared resources and accommodations that range from single rooms to large suites. We like Robert's range of accommodations, the gardens and pools of Douglas House, and the location of the three adjenct properties at the quiet end of Duval.

Fine Print: All rates are double occupancy. Additional occupants are an additional $10.00 per night per person. The Douglas House is pet friendly. The charge is an additional $10.00 per night per pet (maximum 2 pets). Dogs are welcome as long as they weigh less than 20 pounds. A one night deposit is required to reserve a room. All cancellations are charged a $25.00 cancellation fee, deducted from the refund of the deposit.
