Jeanie and Dave

Congratulations! Jeanie and Dave were married at sunset on November 23, 2002 on the Fort  Zach beach in Key West.

It was what may become the coldest day of the year in Key West. Behind us racing boats engaged in a major offshore power boat competition roared by, their chase copter's noisily following overhead. But Jeanie and Dave's love and commitment warmed the air and hushed the noise, and their ceremony was as beautiful as can be. We wish them a long and happy life together.

Their vows:

Dear Friends,

We are gathered here at this hour to witness and to celebrate the coming together of two separate lives. We have come to join Jeanie and Dave in marriage – to be with them and rejoice with them in the making of this important commitment. The essence of this commitment is the taking of another person in his or her entirety, as a lover, a companion and a friend. It is, therefore, a decision which is not taken lightly, but rather it is undertaken with great consideration and respect for both the other person and oneself.

This couple comes together out of a community of friends and relatives. They ask our support as they begin the adventure of married live. It is our fondest hope that their separate lives may together explore new dimensions of live and life.

Jeanie and Dave, on this day of your marriage, you stand somewhat apart from all other people. You stand within the charmed circle of you love; and this is as it should be. But love is not meant to be the possession of two people alone. Rather, it should serve as the source of common energy, as a form in which you find strength to live your lives with courage. From this day onward you must come closer together than ever before, but at the same time your love should give you the strength to stand apart, to seek out your unique destinies and to make your special contribution to the world.

Dave, will you repeat after me:

Jeanie, I will take you as my wife. I pledge to share my life openly with you, to speak the truth to you in love. I promise to honor and tenderly care for you, to cherish and encourage you – throughout the changes in our lives.

Jeanie, will you repeat after me:

Dave, I will take you as my husband. I pledge to share my life openly with you, to speak the truth to you in love. I promise to honor and tenderly care for you, to cherish and encourage you – throughout the changes in our lives.

Each brings now a symbol of your love for each other. Let these rings say to all that your commitment is deep and everlasting, and as you exchange them, may your infinite love be nurtured throughout your years to come.

Dave, will you repeat after me:

I give you this ring as a sign of my love and as a symbol of the vows we have made today. I give you this ring as I give you my love.

Jeanie, will you repeat after me:

I give you this ring as a sign of my love and as a symbol of the vows we have made today. I give you this ring as I give you my love.

Since Jeanie and Dave have vowed to be loyal and loving toward each other, formalizing in our presence the existence of the bond between them, we bear witness to the ceremony that have performed – the ceremony that has made them husband and wife.

May these two people keep this covenant which they have made. May they be a blessing and a comfort to each other, sharers of each others’ joys, consolers in each others sorrows, helpers to each other in all vicissitudes of life. May they encourage each other in whatever they set out to achieve. May they, trusting each other, trust life and not be afraid. Yet, may they not only accept and give affection between themselves, but also together have affection and consideration for others. We who are present, and those who are absent, thinking of these two people, hope that the inspiration of this hour will not be forgotten. May they continue to love one another forever.

Let it be known to all then: by the authority vested in me to conduct this ceremony, I now pronounce you husband and wife… You may now kiss your bride.
